Kiwi Experience was first set up in December 1988 by three Kiwi guys (and a dog called Gyro, the brains behind the whole operation) recently back from extended periods of travelling. From the start, the objective was to provide a flexible transport network for independent travellers. Not tours, but trips linking New Zealand's scenic and adventure attractions, taking time to go to out of the way places and giving travellers a chance to experience the things of interest to them along the way. The first trip departed on 28th October 1989 and since then, we’ve won numerous tourism awards, travelled over 20 million miles and carried more than 400,000 passengers. After 19 years in the business we have constantly refined our trips, ensuring that we cover all the best parts of the country taking in amazing out the way spots off the main tourist trail, the must see NZ icons, genuine cultural experiences where you get to meet locals and learn about NZ culture rather than watch it in a show. Our services are now being mixed and matched to provide a hugely varied range of itineraries. We are the only operator to offer the East Cape region to small groups of backpackers. The EAST AS trip has been hailed the highlight of NZ by many that have travelled out there and it is without a doubt New Zealand's best kept secret. The development of a number of enhanced add-ons such as the Bottom Bus, Milford Explorer, Awesome and Top Bit has added to our flexibility. We use the best vehicles for the job, from 8 seater vans to 4WD all terrain vehicles and touring coaches. When you travel with us you are truly in for the experience of a lifetime. Characters from all walks of life, who can book your accommodation and activities for you, provide in-depth commentary, entertainment, and travel advice, and even medical care - that's right the only difference between our Driver Guides and a doctor is 10 years of medical school, but they'll have a go! And you won't find them in walk socks and long shorts, or wearing a tie. Our Drive Guides have all travelled extensively and see the world from your perspective, as a traveller. So that's our story.
