Waitomo Wanderer
Waitomo is consistently rated in New Zealand’s top 10 must see places, and black water rafting there as one of the top 10 activities. As a result many of our passes already include this sector but if not you can easily add it on with the Waitomo Day Trip. Departing from Rotorua there’ll be plenty to see before you even get there. Once in Waitomo you’ll have the option of experiencing the Legendary Black Water Rafting Company, seeing the caves from a walk, rabbit shearing (strange but true!) and a whole lot more.

Rotorua to Waitomo to Rotorua

Rotorua to Waitomo to Rotorua
Experience the wonder of Waitomo with this one day trip departing from Rotorua.
Depart from your hostel in Rotorua with the ‘Waitomo Wanderer’ and head to Waitomo to experience the caves. “Wai” means water, “tomo” means cave, so you can guess what you are getting into. The caves are made of limestone (basically 40 million year old dead fish). The Waitomo Day Trip has enough time for you to do the Black Labyrinth Tour run by The Legendary Black Water Rafting Company, if you wish, which is a three hour caving adventure, seeing glow-worms in caves, stalactites, fossil oysters and tube your way through the underground caves! Head back to Rotorua the same day, or stay longer in Waitomo to check out the Ruakuri caves, or more black water rafting!
