IMPORTANT INFO FOR YOUR KIWI EXPERIENCE
The following info will help you find your feet and hit the ground running when you land in New Zealand and begin your adventure with us. Don't worry - our friendly reservations team are available 7 days a week to help you with any questions you might have and once you've begun your journey, you'll have one of our Legendary Driver Guides to help you.
CONFIRM YOUR START POINT (WHEN AND WHERE)
The first step is to confirm your starting point – including start date and pick up location. If travelling during summer (October - March), please confirm your start date at least 2-3 weeks before you want to start.
Check out Kiwi Experience timetables here along with the pick up points. Please have your booking reference number (PNR) handy - you'll need this to begin travel, and throughout your trip.
CHANGING YOUR START DATE
We give you the flexibility to change your start date but do give us as much notice as possible (at least 48 hours).
Our no-show policy helps us deliver a better product to our customers. If you fail to turn up for a confirmed departure you will be required to pay a $50 fee to reactivate your pass. Avoid no-show fees by letting us know in advance that we don’t need to hold your seat.
Kiwi Experience stops at a number of locations en route for overnight stays. When you're on board Kiwi Experience - you're guaranteed your first nights accommodation at every overnight stop (two nights in Taupo and Franz Josef and three nights in Queenstown). Even in peak season when accommodation can be hard to come by, your accommodation is guaranteed when you are travelling with Kiwi Experience. Your driver guide will take care of all bookings for you as you go.
This is the time it would take to complete your pass if you stayed on the bus and did not ‘hop-off’ (or stay longer) in any towns along the way. We recommend taking your time and hopping off to explore. Take advantage of your 12-month pass validity by hopping off and exploring NZ.
HOPPING OFF AND HOPPING ON
Kiwi Experience passengers often choose to "hop-off" and stay longer than minimum time. If you decide to stay longer than planned, let us know. Simply advise Kiwi Experience (by phone or email) to avoid the dreaded no-show fee. To hop back on, simply confirm your start point again. Again, during summer we strongly recommend advance warning on pick up points.
WHAT IF THE BUS IS FULL ON THE DATES I WANT?
Kiwi Experience buses are at their most popular during summer. If it’s not possible to start you on the exact date you want – we will work with you to book you on the next available bus – or place you on a standby list for the original date you wanted. Call or email us to discuss your plans.

Kiwi Experience passengers are guaranteed accommodation even in the busiest season. If you are planning on staying for longer than "minimum stay", then it's a good idea to call the hostel and book ahead. Beds are held for the “minimum stay” duration. You can book through your driver as you travel.
Given the impact of the earthquake in Kaikoura – the roads into and out of Kaikoura will be closed until further notice. We don’t know exactly how long this may be, but the indication is that the roads will take months rather than weeks to repair.
