DAY 2

Auckland to Waitomo

Waitomo Chalets (or similar)

Bid farewell to the vibrant city of Auckland as we head south for an action-packed day. First stop, Raglan, with her rugged beauty and unique charm - a haven for surfers and adventure seekers. Spend some time wandering around the town and exploring the many shops and cafes of this sleepy seaside haven. Grab some lunch during this time so you are fuelled for our next adventure.

On our way out of Raglan and before heading on to Waitomo, we will stop by Bridal Veil Falls. This is an easy walk that will lead us through native forests along the Pakoka River where we will eventually end up at the top of Waireinga (Bridal Veil Falls).

Next stop, Waitomo, venture underground with a 90-minute walking tour of Ruakuri Cave (Included). Marvel at the awe-inspiring limestone formations and be mesmerised by glowworms' up close. Uncover the rich tapestry of Māori history, myths, and legends. Craving a bit of adventure as opposed to a stroll through the Ruakuri Cave? UPGRADE from the Ruakuri Cave Walk to the Black Labyrinth or Black Abyss tour with the Legendary Black Water Rafting Company. Jump off an underground waterfall and experience the silence as you float down an underground river with millions of glowworms lighting your way.

DAY 3

Waitomo to Rotorua

Haka House (or similar)

Enjoy a morning hike through the Ruakuri Scenic Reserve to get the blood pumping. Witness breathtaking views of the Waitomo landscape, keep your eyes peeled for native fantails and wood pigeons, and breathe in the crisp morning Waitomo air.

Now we journey to the enchanting Shire of Hobbiton (included). Explore the meticulously crafted hobbit holes, wander through lush gardens, and relive iconic scenes from The Lord of the Rings saga. Conclude your magical experience with a refreshing beverage at The Green Dragon pub.

Our final destination today is Rotorua, a geothermal wonderland with adventure and relaxation. On arrival in Rotorua, we will go to the National Kiwi Hatchery. Take an immersive journey where you will learn about Kiwis and their natural environment PLUS delve into darkness and look out for this unique bird in their purpose-built nocturnal homes.
