I picked the Zephyr pass & went in January. It was such a great way to see the country and getting to do lots of exciting activities. The free activities were great too, to break up the drives between locations. The drivers were friendly & helpful- they basically can book everything for you! NZ is a beautiful country- I only wish I'd had more time! My only negative was that I went in the height of summer and the buses were very busy and often pre-booked for days ahead, so there were some places where I would have liked to stay longer but couldn't.

For someone, who has not done a hop-on and hop-off tour, the entire process is not very intuitive; although, the drivers are helpful, and some of them really make the effort to help you out and are great fun. The itinerary does take you off beat and its great fun doing the walks and seeing a lot of places that you otherwise might not have.

Had such a great Kiwi Experience with your company, only problem is we want to go back! Booked the Kiwi Experience as a way for me and two friends to get around New Zealand. After using a 'normal' hop-on-hop-off service to get around Aus, it was so good to have the organisation, friendliness and means of meeting other travellers that Kiwi gave us. The drivers made everything so easy. All were very friendly, exceedingly knowledgeable and brought their own personalities to the role. Ben was particularly helpful, making sure that we got to do our heli-hike in Franz Josef by delaying the bus leaving time, getting up early to put our bags on and collecting us from outside the centre. Saved a lot of money and stress by the bus picking us up from outside our hostels rather than trying to cross a strange town with our backpacks. Also by it taking you to places such as Hobbiton and AJ Hackett centre en-route, again making things very easy. Kiwi also organised great activities at good prices (Kaikoura whale watching on a day bus as route north cut off, bungy, skydive etc). Pleased with all accommodation, booked some ourselves as well as through the bus and was never a problem to pick us up. Also really enjoyed the bar crawl and Mahinapua hotel nights, the bus really brought us all together, across lots of ages and stages in life. Again thank you Kiwi, hopefully will be back one day!

Great way to explore the country if you aren't on a tight budget

If you want to see a lot of New Zealand fast, this is a great way to do it.

A great way to solo travel and to see the best bits of New Zealand quickly !

Experience is the right choice for this trip. You make the whole trip into the experience that you want. The bus enables you to meet like minded people whilst exploring some of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand. But the experience is in your hands. Take in what the drivers tell you but also explore beyond the bus. Take time in each place to really experience the true beauty and freshness of New Zealand. Also if you are worried about the reputation of the bus being party central hold off and travel when it's not peak season you won't regret it and you are bound to find others who had the same reservation. Me being one of them. It can become a bit frustrating siting on the bus the all the time but remember you can jump on and off for as long as you like. Make it your experience.

I was a little nervous about travelling alone but from the first bus until the last I was so comfortable and met so many people I have already been keeping in touch with. I loved it!

I bought this 4 months ago and was the worst experience in my life!

I bought this about a year ago and expected it to be a less organised tour as I had been travelling solo for a while, I expected it to more just a bus and it felt more like a glorified schooltrip, but as I got used to it I did enjoy it loads! Could have taken it easier on the clipboards though
