Not made for adventure.

I brought this as i was limited on time and i thought it was the cheapest and most efficient way to travel and i was wrong.. yes the initial ticket price was cheap however it actually would of worked out cheaper to buy a car/rent a car with friends. I often found that we were taking to the most expensive hostels and weren't given a choice of other places (the hostels were so expensive it was actually cheaper to book them online independently) i also found that we made pointless stops off at places when there was no actual need to stop except to waste time.... if we didn't stop off at these places you could actually add other locations to your itinerary and make the trip a little better. If your looking for just a bus ride and you have money to waste then go for it but if you want a real travellers experience and not a flash packing experience then dont go for it. Oh and free wifi! No way its like 300mb which lasts like 30 mins!

Once you started it's an amazing trip!

In the beginning it was a bit confusing to me, because I didn't know that the trip goes only one way. Also it's a bit stressful to book your trips because you have to call the office at the office hours. But once you started the trip is amazing! You see a lot of the country and do many activities like little walks between the busrides. The bus drivers are all super friendly and helpfull and especially so funny! There are a lot of cool activities to do, which are easy to book. You make friends quickly because you're mostly travelling with the same group. The only bad thing is that you mostly go to more expensive hostels, but you still can book other hostels!

Highly recommend

I didn't have a lot of time to spend in New Zealand but still wanted to explore as much as I could. Kiwi Experience ended up being the perfect solution since they transport you directly to all the best attractions and locations, let you book accommodations and activities as you go, and include plenty of stops along the way for hikes and cool scenery. Also appreciated that they built time in almost every day for grocery shopping which helped me save money while backpacking. The crowd was definitely young (a lot of people on their gap year or in college) but everyone was very welcoming to me as a solo traveler. Our driver Simon was both hilarious and helpful.

Best bus I've been on

Bought it at STA travel hadn't really read up too much on the route so was mostly a nice surprise going up to bay of islands and down to the Deep South.

Buses, beers, banter, brilliant!

Just finished the best seven weeks of my career break by far. Auckland to Auckland. I knew nobody on the trip before I came and I've left with plans already made for a reunion. I was apprehensive at first thinking that the trip would be a bit cliquey with younger British travellers especially seeming to be in their own pre formed groups but from day one in bay of islands all groups had opened up to the inclusion of strangers like myself after a few bar games and cheap beers! From the very start had a solid base of friendliness on my bus and this continued for the whole journey with many people staying extra days or leaving to go ahead. But this just meant an extra opportunity for a "going away" night out and also the inevitable "meeting back up again" night out usually at Queenstown! Hard to pick a favourite part of the trip but scenery wise I'd say Wanaka to Queenstown and the Milford Sound trip were the highlights! Two of my drivers, Cuddles(Dave) who I had for the whole trip from Auckland to Milford!! , and also recently Jared who I had from Wellington-Rotorua, were brilliant for their local knowledge and just having a laugh to pass the time. Dave fixed any possible confusion people had about the bus timetable and preplanning buses in advance and made it impossible to be anyways stressed while travelling with him. Jared also was great for taking an interest in passengers trips and adventures and sharing some of his personal stories from around the world and his time at Kiwi Experience. Can't recommend it any higher. I've done solo travel and some group trips to over 70 countries and this trip put New Zealand right at the top of my list of favourites. Thanks for the adventure!

I booked with my agency from Sydney, Australia 3 months before the trip.
