Great self contained stay anywhere

Kia ora, my name is Ahurangi and I am from Waitomo. I toured on the Kiwi bus May 2019, and I loved it. The destinations, activities, driver, atmosphere and social life was loads of fun and I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to travel NZ in a fun social setting.

I was really pleased with the kiwi trip. It was easy to book activites on the bus and also to compare different options. By going with the bus you saw alot of nature. The only negative thing was the recommended hostels, most of them were pretty expensive and did not own up to the price. On the other hand the Hostels were an easy place to connect with the group.

It was an amazing experience to do the kiwi experience but it was not as flexible and easy going as it should have been. It seems like a lot of the busses were full up and it wasn't really a hop-on hop-off service because I wasn't able to stay longer in some places with the friends I had made due to being on long waiting lists for packed busses.

I'm quite happy, there are wonderful places, nice drivers (especially Simon!!) and good activities!

We had an amazing trip, it made traveling so stress free as the bus arranged allot for us, great way to meet amazing people and an amazing bus driver !!!

Have to say, Simon our bus driver completely made this experience. I had 3 bus drivers over my time on the kiwi bus and luckily did minimum time with Simon from Auckland to queenstown, and so so happy I did. He made every day so much fun, went above and beyond with everything he did. Had 2 other drivers who didn’t even touch the sides like Simon did. The whole dynamic of the kiwi bus was great, managed to meet so many people and hopefully friends for a long time. I had heard great things so had quite high expectations, but still had the best time! Only thing I would say is that I felt certain stops were a bit unnecessary like lake Mahinapua, this seemed like an easy way for kiwi to make a bit of extra money as they bought and owned the hotel, and there wasn’t anything to do really other than drink. Other than that, it was the time of my life and can’t recommend it enough!
