Good Way to travel around and meet a lot of new people!! You see all the cool places. I would just wish that i have had more time, so i could stay longer!

Great for young people and easy travelling

It's a good way to travel if you are young and with a group and want everything done for you. However the accommodation kiwi stay with is dire and expensive because they can only stay with big hostels eith thr capacity for busloads of kiwi experience people. Smaller hostels are much better, nicer, cleaner and it's easier to meet people as kiwi can be quite cliquey. However if you stay with alternative hostels, ss a solo traveller it is then difficult to hop back on the bus and gel with new people as they're staying together. I would suggest to more independent travellers to just do naked bus or intercity. Another major disadvantage of kiwi is that it is extremely slow getting from A to B, it takes usually an entire day. I found that we pretty much never got to our destination before 4pm, even when starting out at 7am (except Christchurch...but there is absolutely nothing to do there!!) Some of the stops kiwi does along the way for walks etc are good e.g. Lake Matheson, but some are completely and utterly pointless and just a waste of time. It would be better if they focused on getting people to the destination by say midday or 1pm so we could see more of places. Lastly I wouldn't recommend it to people over the age of 23 really as it's more of a pre- (& some post-) uni crowd. Stray would be better for the mid twenties onwards I think, although the accommodation they get is similarly poor.

Great Experience!!!!

I booked my itinerary around 6 months ago and I'm really happy I did that. The service in general was great, and so the itineraries you offer. I also met lovely people in the bus

The Irish Experience

Absolutely loved the trip! Rob, dan and Luca were heroes but a special mention has to go to Rob because we had him the longest on the trip and it wouldn't have been the same without him. He is the perfect tour Guide keeping everyone interested and being mad Craic every day. Without Fail he kept the bus in a good mood and never seemed to have a day where he wasn't feeling it! Absolute hero. On the other hand Markanou was one o the most obnoxious self centred Arrogant people I have ever come across he acted like he was having to go out of his way every time something was asked to him. A lot of people we met after him also agreed as I'm sure you have recieved similar negative reviews. Other than him the trip actually couldn't have been any better! Cheers guys keep it up and I may even be back some day!

Review

I bought this bus pass a while ago and spend 2 1/2 months travelling New Zealand. It was sold to me as a hop on hop off bus which was ideal for the amount of time i had travelling but it definitely was not, and had to spend a fair amount of time waiting in Queues on the phone to get in contact with Kiwi Experience to book busses far in advance. This meant that if i particularly liked one place and wished to stay longer i could only stay the amount of time that i had booked in advance as the bus was full every day and there was a huge stand by list. However if you only have a month travelling or a limited amount of time and are travelling by yourself i would recommend this bus as every journey we went on was split up by the bus taking us to particular areas of interest and different sights on the way so it was a great way of seeing and experiencing lots of things and meeting a lot of people in a short amount of time.

Big green fun bus

I thought the overall experience was amazing. For a solo traveller the kiwi experience bus is definitely the way to go, you meet so many people and end up making really good friends.

Good concept

When I booked the kiwi experience pass I got promised to see a lot of amazing stuff, meet loads of new people, have everything sorted for me(as in accommodation and activities) and that it was all very flexible, you could jump on and off as you wanted. Everything came true except the last one, which really ruined the experience. I got stock in some places for several days, just because i wanted to stay an extra night. And I know some people was stuck just because they hadn't booked 2 weeks in advance....

So much fun!

I had so much fun on the kiwi experience, they charge for everything though, nothing is free and there are so many hidden costs. Also Nancy boy was more like a teacher than a guide, constantly telling us to be quiet when we were talking to our friends - we have paid a lot of money for this service and therefore can talk when we wish. Just because we are travellers does not mean should be treated like children. Please pass this on to him.
